First Meeting
Ben and I met in kindergarten and attended the same school through the eighth grade. We weren’t sweethearts growing up, but we remained in the same circle of close friends during our nine years at Trinity School. When looking through old photographs that I keep tucked away in my closet, I smile when I see that Ben and I were always standing next to each other during our elementary and middle school years, both of us unaware of the beautiful future that we would one day share. We attended different high schools and only saw each other a handful times during the years following our eighth grade graduation. Five years ago, twenty years after we first met, Ben’s mother encouraged him to reach out to me and as cliché as it sounds, the rest is history.
Ben and I both love Disney World and it quickly became our go to vacation spot once we began dating. We traveled to Disney World soon after Ben proposed, and spent the entire trip discussing and envisioning our dream wedding. It did not take us long to realize that our dream wedding could only be at The Happiest Place on Earth.
The Wedding Day
Following an intimate ceremony at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Celebration, Florida, our guests were invited to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort for lunch and dancing. Both our ceremony and reception venues were beautiful on their own so our vision for décor simply included lush greenery accented by a blush color palette. Three long tables with French country chairs helped to complete the look of a romantic, garden wedding. In addition to dancing, corn hole and a caricaturist entertained our guests throughout the reception. In the evening, guests gathered at Terrace des Fleurs in Epcot’s World Showcase for a viewing of the Illuminations fireworks show and were then escorted to Soarin’ for a private ride on the attraction. In true Disney fashion, our wedding day was undeniably the most magical day of our lives.
Many moments of our wedding day stand out in my mind. I will never forget getting ready with the amazing women in my life, the look on my fathers face when he saw me in my wedding dress for the first time and the overwhelming feeling of joy when I walked down the aisle towards my groom. What I will remember the most, however, is the unbelievable feeling of love that enveloped us throughout the entire day. I am so incredibly thankful to our vendors who turned our vision into reality and to our family and friends who traveled all the way to Florida, allowing our fairytale wedding to come true.
